UKBFF CLASSIC BODYBUILDING

For the first time in this country a new & exciting division has been added under the UKBFF umbel era as the Bodybuilding Classic Class! Although already very popular in Europe this category was pretty much unknown in England until now. 2007 saw the very first classic division qualifiers across the country and although only in its infancy it is a category, which is creating quite a lot of interest in the bodybuilding community and is probably the one that I anticipate will grow the most by the end of the year.

In essence it works on a height to weight formula which limits the amount of muscle mass a person can add to his frame in order to preserve the aesthetic shape, lines and proportions of that person! Basically encouraging physiques to look more like past role models such as Frank Zane, Bob Paris, Lee Lebrada, & Francis Benfattoo.
It is certainly an area that had been lost in recent years, as the battle for the biggest mass monsters still continues on both the amateur & professional
Stage!

With the new classic division it forces the competitive bodybuilder to think intelligently about where to add mass muscle in order to look better!  For instance he could try to extenuate the classic V taper and work on lat & shoulder width or trying to produce better-shaped legs that had more sweep or hamstring development! Mass can therefore not be added indiscriminately & a lot of for thought has to go into creating a classic physique that is still able to look impressive yet still fit the height to weight criteria.

It is a division that requires you to be a precise height & weight. Both of which can be manipulated to gain an advantage! For instance through a variety of stretches you can make yourself slightly taller (i.e. by stretching the spine) this therefore gives you a bit more allowable body weight at the weigh in! A lot of technically precise dehydration, carb depletion & carb loading becomes imperative if you are to look your best and are essential tools in making the weight & then consequently creating a bigger fuller hydrated body the very next day on stage!
